Subclinical mastitis doesn’t show clinical signs in the udder. It usually shows mild alteration in the milk and/or SCC. Clinical mastitis shows signs in the udder, for example, redness, pain, high temperature, inflammation, etc.
Mastitis is a disease that has multiple effects on the dairy industry. It is the most costly disease in the dairy industry (it is estimated that mastitis costs up to 2,000 million dollars in the US dairy industry), affecting the quality of milk, and has a very significant impact on animal welfare.
